The Car Clinic

Vehicle Maintenance & Minor Repairs for Those in Financial Need

Volunteers

Meet our volunteers!  There are several roles filled at The Car Clinic and these folks have filled them nicely.  We can often use another set of hands though.  So, if you’re interested in helping in either the garage or the house please contact us!

  Tim Hiller

Tim is the Head Wrench, and he has a passion for Car Clinic that never stops burning.  For Tim, this is not one Saturday a month, but almost a part-time job.  When he’s not working on a car, or overseeing the crew, he’s on the phone with upcoming visitors, doing research online, buying parts, making schedules and more!

  Brooke Peterson

Brooke and Tim met at Car Care—a ministry provided by Living Word Church to its membership.  Brooke still serves there, as well as at Car Clinic—often giving up 2 Saturdays a month!  Brooke runs an auto-body and repair shop from his home…and can make any work he does in the garage look cool!

  Corey Book

Corey called Tim in 2006 to say he was interested in volunteering.  While Tim thought he had enough mechanics, they hit it off so well on the phone that he brought him on board anyway—and he’s been with us ever since.  He’s dedicated, has a heart to serve, and knows how to make us all laugh!

  Rodney Nelson & Elijah Nelson

Rodney and his son, Elijah, have been volunteering for Car Clinic steadily for the past couple of years.  We love that they get an opportunity to bond, while Elijah learns a skill, as well as what it means to serve.  They are often the last to leave—helping to clean up and visiting with Tim as the day comes to a close.

  Justin Leininger

Justin is our neighbor—and the best neighbor we could ask for (well, along with his wife of course!).  While Justin serves in a different capacity in his own Church (The Crossing in Elk River), he has a knack for cars and passion to help those in need.  P.S.  Don’t be surprised if someday we post a link to inforomation about Justin’s own Car Clinic!

  Dave Sunderland

Dave and Tim have been friends since…well, since dirt was invented. (haha)  While Dave is not a regular, he has served as a back-up a couple of times…which requires some real dedication since he lives about 50 miles away!  Thanks Dave–you’re the best!!

  Chris Shodeen

Like most of the team, Chris is a jack-of-all trades having worked in carpentry (with Justin) and heavy equipment (with Tim).  Yes…it really IS a small world after all.   Just as it was when he worked with these two other guys, Chris has proven to be a hard worker and a great help!

  Patrick Rohde

Patrick’s interest in cars allowed us to begin a mentoring program back when he was 15.   Since then, he’s gotten his license and taken some auto mechanics classes in school.  So, he’s not only our “Jr. Mechanic” but our parts runner.  As you can see, his only downfall is that he takes himself a little too seriously some times.  (LOL!)

  Jim Thomas

Jim has played a variety of roles within Car Clinic—whether it be parts running, hospitality, helping with forms, or…bringing the ever popular box of doughnuts.   Look for Jim in some other roles as we continue to expand Car Clinic into 2010!

  Jerry & Christianna Stinar

The Stinars are dear, dear friends of ours.  A lovely and talented young couple with huge hearts—they have only recently joined the team and will be helping out in a variety of ways from acting as a concierge between the garage and the kitchen, taking care of paperwork, creating and maintaining a database of guests and vehicles, as well as creating some displays and other fun stuff!

  Lynette Rohde

While Lynette started out ready to change some oil, she quickly evolved into our first parts-runner…then our bookkeeper, kitchen help, and liaison to the Foursquare Church’s legal and insurance folks!  Phew!  Most importantly though, Lynette is trained by Crown Financial Ministries as a Money Map Coach and is available to provide financial counseling to those in need.

  Roxanne Nelson

Roxanne came along (with a couple of others) to start helping in the kitchen this past year.  Cooking, cleaning, and getting her girls involved too!   Oh, and for those of you wondering…yes, she is Rodney’s “Mrs.” And Elijah’s “Mama”!  Michelle can’t tell you enough how grateful she is for her help and friendship!

  Missy Roberts

Missy too has been gracious enough to come and help out in the kitchen…homemade egg-bakes, chicken noodle soup.  Mmmm-mmmm!   If you haven’t had her cooking, you better find a way!  Here she is on her way out to serve the guys in the garage…hot coffee and a warm smile.

  Michelle Hiller

Michelle is the head of hospitality –cooking, visiting, and sometimes praying with the guests.   She is also the “creative director” – busy making forms, mailers, and creating content for this web site!  She looks forward to loving on folks every month—treating them as family, since that’s how she sees them all.  (But be forewarned, she’s also a bit sassy—so watch out!)
